After a compelling 2-part holiday episode, Virgin River season 6 must answer pressing questions about the characters and town. Adapting the eponymous novel series by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe as she seeks a fresh start in the Northern California town of Virgin River. Over the past five seasons, Virgin River characters have gone through significant character arcs, allowing them to grow and change.

Since then, the show has left open the question of what would happen if the police found Wes’ body. Shortly after the murder, Preacher told Connie he would take the blame to save Paige if officers ever discovered the body.
This conversation seemingly reveals Preacher’s devastating fate in Virgin River, but the show has yet to follow through. That could change very soon, though. The ending of season 5 shows Mike telling Preacher over the phone that the police have identified Wes’ body and know he was murdered. Preacher says the foreshadowing line, “This thing is about to blow up.”
Virgin River season 6 will need to follow through on this story and answer multiple questions surrounding the consequences of Preacher’s involvement in covering up Wes’s death. The most immediate question is whether Preacher will tell Kaia about what happened. If Preacher wants to protect Paige, he could keep everything to himself, driving a wedge between him and Kaia. Additionally, Virgin River might need to bring Paige back to town if Wes’s death investigation will play a central role in season 6. Lastly, and most importantly, the show needs to answer whether Wes follows through on his Virgin River season 2 promise.

Cameron And Muriel May Face An Insurmountable Barrier
Cameron previously wanted to start a family with his ex-wife in Virgin River, making it complicated when she shows up asking for a second chance. He decides he wants to stay with his much older girlfriend, Muriel, but the older woman gets concerned that he’s sacrificing his desire for kids by being with her. Because Muriel has no desire to bear children of her own, she tells Cameron to think about what he wants in life. Virgin River season 6 will need to show Cameron deciding whether to remain child-free or not. Moreover, it will need to explore how his choice impacts his relationship.
What Is Jimmy’s Connection To Lark And Hazel?
Jimmy’s Relationship With Lark May Impact Her Romance With Brady
At the end of the second Virgin River holiday episode, Lark gets a phone call from Jimmy. These two haven’t previously had contact, making it confusing when Jimmy asks about Hazel. It’s unclear what kind of relationship he has with Lark and her daughter, a connection that will need clarification. His question makes it sound like he’s Hazel’s father, which would mean he and Lark had some sort of previous romantic or sexual connection. However, the pair look to have a significant age difference. Virgin River hasn’t previously shied away from age gaps (i.e., Muriel and Cameron), making their relationship a possibility.
Alternatively, Jimmy could be Lark’s older brother, dad, or uncle in Virgin River. This relationship would explain why he wants to know about Hazel and would use the phrase “our little girl.” Family members often speak about each other in relational terms instead of calling each other by name. This would also explain why Jimmy and Lark look like they’re different ages.

While on the phone with Lark, Jimmy asks about Brady. She responds that he doesn’t suspect anything. If Jimmy is Hazel’s father, the comment could be about the paternity. However, their tone of voice sounded more like they were hiding a malicious secret. The showrunner of Virgin River, Patrick Sean Smith, did an interview with Y! Entertainment that reaffirmed the idea that the pair were up to something. He said of Brady, “He has created some enemies for himself along the way, and some of them might be looking for revenge.”
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean Lark and Brady’s relationship is entirely fake. Jimmy and Lark could have plotted against Brady, but she unexpectedly developed real feelings for him. Additionally, she could have second thoughts about going after Brady because of his relationship with Hazel. Ultimately, Virgin River season 6 must clarify Lark’s motivations toward Brady.

The pair is seemingly staying in town. This leads to the question of whether the pair will get married. Traditionally, this is the next step, but raising a child as an unmarried couple is more socially acceptable. Mel never knew her dad in Virgin River, but the season 5 ending shows her meeting her father – Everett Reid. Everett gives Mel letters written by her mother to him as a peace offering. Virgin River season 6 will need to provide an answer worth waiting for. The moment could turn sentimental, with Everett saying he had always wanted to be a part of her life. Alternatively, if the show wants to ramp up the drama, they could reveal that Doc knew Everett’s identity the whole time. This would drive a wedge between Mel and her surrogate father, creating the “paternal love triangle” Smith referenced in his Y! Entertainment interview. It would also fit with the tone of the dramatic show. No matter what, the rest of the conversation needs to have emotional weight to influence Mel’s storyline.

Mel and Jack have one of the most heartwarming and strongest relationships on Virgin River. The pair get engaged in season 4, and they plan parts of their wedding throughout season 5. They’ve ridden out all the emotional roller coasters and come out stronger on the other side. While their wedding is inevitable, Virgin River season 6 will need to either show their wedding or provide a compelling reason why the couple must delay the ceremony.
