With the Bad Boy Records founder facing criminal charges, 50 Cent seems to feel justified in his treatment of Diddy over the years
For almost 20 years, rapper 50 Cent has been slamming Sean “P Diddy” Combs publicly, beginning way before the music mogul was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and racketeering last month.
With the Bad Boy Records founder facing 15 years to life if he’s convicted of his criminal charges, 50 Cent seems to feel justified in his treatment of Diddy throughout the years. The In Da Club rapper even spoke about the alleged activities of Diddy when he was arrested in Manhattan, New York, on September 16. This was a day before he was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution on September 17 – all of which Diddy has pleaded not guilty to.
50 Cent admittedly has always mocked the Sean John creator and trolled him on social media way before his recent allegations.
“Look, it seems like I’m doing some extremely outrageous things, but I haven’t. It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for 10 years,” 50 Cent told People. “Now it’s becoming more full-facing in the news with the Puffy stuff, but away from that, I’m like, ‘Yo, it’s just my perspective because I stayed away from that stuff the entire time, because this is not my style.’”
The feud between 50 Cent and Diddy dates back to 2006 when 50 Cent dropped his diss record, The Bomb. In the song, the Power creator accused Diddy of being involved with the 1997 murder of his hit Bad Boy Records artist Notorious B.I.G., an allegation Diddy has vehemently denied.
Since then, 50 Cent and Diddy haven’t been able to agree, and their back-and-forth was further fueled by the fact that they both represented rival vodka brands. After Diddy was arrested, an announcement revealed that Fiddy had a documentary in the works about Diddy’s mounting allegations.
“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton told People in a statement. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives.”
The statement continued: “While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’s story is not the full story of hip hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, while he awaits trial.
