Kelsea Ballerini is a big fan of boyfriend Chase Stokes‘ Netflix show Outer Banks — even though she doesn’t actually tune in to the streaming show.
Ballerini, 31, took to TikTok on Friday, October 11, to rank the characters from Stokes’ John B to Madison Bailey’s character Kiara. After the “Sorry Mom” singer noted in the video that she didn’t know the story lines for every character, several fans urged her in the comments section to “watch the show” for context.
Ballerini, who has been dating Stokes, 32, for nearly two years, replied to one fan that she doesn’t watch “because he and i have a deal!” She added: But i’ve seen so much of this season and it’s badass 🤍 NO FURTHER QUESTIONS YOUR HONOR.”
Another follower poked fun at Ballerini’s attempt to weigh in on the show, writing, “The way you kept switching between ranking the characters and ranking the people playing them😭😭.” Ballerini stood by the fact that she tried her “best,” adding, “what i do know…the new season is 🤌.”
Part 1 of season 4 of Outer Banks started streaming earlier this month.
The hit Netflix series introduced viewers to a coastal town in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which is divided into wealthy and working-class sides. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers accidentally find themselves at the center of a dangerous treasure hunt.
While filming the first two seasons of Outer Banks, Stokes dated his costar and onscreen love interest Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah. The pair parted ways before filming season 3 but have remained on good terms.
“Mads and I have been working together now for 30 episodes, and we made a promise to each other before we even started dating that the work was always going to come first,” Stokes told Entertainment Weekly in February 2023. “And that no matter what happens in our personal lives, and the ways that life sometimes takes you in different directions, that we’re always going to honor the work. That stayed 100 percent truthful this season.”
Cline, 26, echoed Stokes’ sentiment, telling Cosmopolitan that same month, “We always said that the job remains untouched. Nothing else, personal or negative, will touch the job. And while that’s not always easy, our job is to leave the show better than we found it, to leave the season better than we found it. And I’m really appreciative of that.”
Stokes has since found love with Ballerini and the duo have enjoyed showing off their romance.
“The thing that we’ve decided, and to each their own, is when you’re with someone that you feel secure with and that you’re proud to be with, why not share it?” Ballerini told StyleCaster in July 2023. “He’s also a Virgo; we’re both Labrador Retrievers in human form. It doesn’t take much conversation to be on the same page. It’s been half a year and it’s been great.”
Ballerini has also offered a glimpse at her bond with Cline. In September 2023, Cline shared photos of herself at the MTV Video Music Awards. Days after the event, Ballerini gushed over Cline’s deconstructed Givenchy gown.
“You looked a ridiculous level of stunning and i’m glad i finally got to hug your neck 🤍,” the musician wrote in the Instagram comments section. In response, Cline hinted at the sweet moment she shared with Ballerini when cameras weren’t rolling, adding, “So happy I got to squeeze you gorgeous gorgeous girl.”
